Audacity is now a Possible Spyware, Remove it ASAP

It is best just to remove audacity now and replace it with one of the alternatives below.

# to remove Audacity:

$ sudo apt-get remove audacity Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: audacity-data libflac++6v5 libportsmf0 libsuil-0-0 libvamp-hostsdk3v5 Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them. The following packages will be REMOVED: audacity 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded. After this operation, 13.7 MB disk space will be freed. Do you want to continue? [Y/n] Y

Then
$ sudo apt autoremove
to remove the leftover pieces colored in yellow above.

As noted in the discussion link above, forked (cloned) versions of Audacity are already being created to remove the spyware problem.
